  Audio Meter and Mixer missing

  I have had this issue (on my MBP and Pro Mac) there are no audio meters and I can not turn on the audio mixer, both are grayed out. This has been the case as far as I can remember with FCP6. Anyone else with the same problem? Do I need to do a re-install?
