Audio loses sync on next clip
If I have a couple of clips on my timeline with a gap in the middle, and start playing on the first clip, then it passes through the empty area to the other clip, the other clip will suddenly become out of sync. If I then hit the space bar, then hit it again to start again, it will be in sync again. It only happens if I start or go through an empty space before the clip. Doesn’t always happen either.
We just upgraded from FCP 6 to 7. This is the first time I used the system since the upgrade. Some of the Preferences might not be the same as before. Is there a box I don’t have checked? I’m using DVCPRO on the timeline. But also does the same thing with AVCIntra100. Thanks.replied 16 years, 5 months ago 3 Members · 5 Replies

FIll that gap with a slug and it should go away.

I’m only looking at a couple of clips right now. Not even editing, just laying the clips on a timeline to view them. I haven’t had this problem before. It shouldn’t be doing this. There must be a setting for the Sequence that I don’t have right.

Try putting a slug and see if it fixes it. Please?

Sorry Jeremy. I put a slug in between the clips, and it seems to keep them in sync. Starting and stopping on a clip is never a problem. It’s just when I start in an empty space that it loses sync. But it doesn’t do it every time. Just some of the time.
Obviously, having something there like a slug helps, but I never had this problem before.

I’ve not seen this on our FCP7…yet, but there was a post about a week ago about the same problem. Using the slug fixed it. Years ago I remember always having to use a slug if you wanted an exported file to sync properly. But, that might have been with a Media 100.
