September 18, 2007 at 8:38 amOpen the “System profiler” and you will see what you have in your Mac. Look in “Audio Built In”.
As long as I know all the Mac have Line-in, Line-out. If you want to plug a mic through the line-in, you need to convert the impedance first.

Impedance is not the issue.
Its LEVEL.Mic level is much lower than line, so you need a “direct box,” a mixer or a pre-amp to boost the level.

September 19, 2007 at 1:24 amI know it’s a line level and not a mic level. The system pref says squat. I need to know if it is mono or stereo before I plug anything into it. I also know it doubles as a digital input. I need to plug a mono guitar line level in.
I somehow feel that it is mono,,, need to confirm. Can’t believe the pdf doesn’t say more on the issue.

September 19, 2007 at 8:17 pmI am aware of that. Lightsnake makes nice USB cables for guitar and mics. I just want to use the line in for now. Thanx.
