audio level puzzle
I’ve been given an audio spec that states audio level should average around -12dB, and lower than -6dB. Trouble is, how do I decide if the average is around -12dB? In Audition, I used to look at the levels meter and see if the level was oscillating around -12. But later I learned to use the Single-band Compressor effect and became more confused because the result depends on attack/release time.
My question is, is the spec I was given a reasonable spec? Also, is there an easy way to tell average level?
Thanks for your help.
