audio lay-back to DVcam
Posted by L Isha on April 26, 2005 at 7:03 pmHello to all,
Is it possible to do an audio lay-back to a DVcam without affecting the picture?
Thanks so much,

But as to how to do that with FCP…dunno. Only worked on an Avid with that deck…

April 26, 2005 at 8:41 pmShould work on high-end decks, as said. But only via RS422. Firewire doesn’t support insert edits (as far as I know).

Yes, I am going to use a DSR-1800. So is it the same concept as when I work with a digi-beta? Actually the audio mixer is going to do the lay-back. Usually we work with digi-beta.

The back story…I’ve been editing a TV show for over a year. Usually I make a DV-cam master, take it to a post house and have a digi-beta created. Then the audio mixer works with the digi-beta. Then I take the mixed digi-beta to the post house and they make another digibeta, closed caption it, QC it and satellite it. I am trying to alleviate the first digi-beta transfer and have the audio mixer lay-back to the DV-cam.
Since I don’t have an RS422, I was going to make my master on a DV-cam via firewire using a DSR-11. However if I do this can the audio mixer still do an audio lay-back using the 1800? As I am sitting in my edit bay talking to myself my thoughts are that this is not possible. Am I correct in that I would need to make the master via RS422 using the 1800 so the audio and video channels are separate?
Any thoughts?
