    Hi, everyone,

    The problem has been driving me nuts for the past few days. I hope someone has encountered the similar situation and would point me to a solution.

    I am trying to compress the ProRes 422 HQ file (8 channel) to MXF OP1a (2 channel stereo) with Adobe Media Encoder. I was successful with getting a variety of other outputs, but all of them have screwed up audio. I am not sure exactly what ends up in the output file, but I suspect that it’s just last matrix stereo channel and not the sound isn’t properly downmixed into stereo.

    Quicktime plays the ProRes file perfectly. Adobe Media Encoder shows the source information in its summary as “Clip, name.mov, 1920×1080 (1.0), 23.976 fps, Progressive, …, 48000 Hz, Mono. Note the Mono part. I tried opening the source file with Premiere and I hear the same screwed up sound, but I can see 8 tracks in the timeline.

    Anyway, all I want is a good ol’ MPEG with 2 channels out of this 🙂 Please help.

    Try Telestream Episode Pro and use the Channel Mapper or Channels filter for the audio.

    Thanks, but the trial version doesn’t allow me to test if what you suggest works. Plus their trial version gives me initialization failed for every encode that I try to make, even on other files…

    While I am trying to get a hold of their tech support, do you know of any other way?
