Audio Issue, SDI-Kona LH
Hi Guys, first time using 1080i material.
Shot with Canon XLH1, 1080i.
Trying to digitize in Final Cut 5.1.1, with Kona LH using its SDI input.
Issue: I got Video BUT NO AUDIO AT ALL.
I see levels on the Cam just fine, but the AUDIO signal gets lost and won’t come thru the SDI.It may just be a Simple fix…Again it’s my first time.

Go into your Kona Control Panel and switch the audio to Embedded. Default is AES.

I did try that..and Nothing.

Does the HD-SDI output from the Canon XLH1 carry embedded audio ? If it doesn’t, then your only option is to take the analog audio and feed it to the Kona LH analog audio input via an audio mixer since it is an unbalanced output. Then change the audio input on the AJA Control Panel to analog.

Nope, it does not. Do what Chrispy says and use the analog audio.

The Canon XL-H1 DOES NOT put out embedded audio. This is an assumption that I made recently, and I WAS WRONG. The Canon XL-H1 puts out ANALOG AUDIO – no embedded SDI audio.
