  • Audio insert editing from FCP to UVW-1800

Posted by Darren on November 14, 2006 at 4:20 pm

I noticed that when I try to do a audio only insert edit from Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 to my UVW-1800 Beta SP, it doesn’t work. I am able to do assemble edits with both audio and video. And I am able to do video inserts… But when I attempt an audio insert of any type, the machine goes through the motions of it but does not record anything.

    Any thoughts on this??

The insert edit controls on my old 1800 are not accessible directly from my version of FCP. I used to have a controller application called Pipeline (or something like that) to control the 1800 externally. There is a hidden menu on the 1800 setup that will enable inserts so that when the edit command is received from your Mac’s 242 connector, assemble is disabled and your chosen insert type is initiated.

There may be other controllers for the 1800 on the market that will talk directly to FCP. Sorry, dunno.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

    Darren,

Clearly you must be using a capture card, though you have not mentioned which one. If you’re using a Decklink or Kona card I would suggest that you post your question on one of those two forums.
