    I am working in Windows on a laptop (Dell M70) 2 GB of RAM. When I do a RAM preview with audio, it will play the video but I get an AFter Effects error message (10:65) that says “This machine’s sound capabilities do not include playback of stereo audio.”

    It started doing this a few weeks ago, I upgraded to 7.0, still does it. Any have any idea?

    Audio will play in all other applications, doesn’t matter the file format, i have changed the settings in preferences to mono, and I get a different message that says “audio output problem. A device ID has been used that is out of range for your system.”

    Not too sure what might be the problem. Any suggestions would be a great help.

    did you try hitting 0 on your keypad once to get it to render then again to preview with sound?

    Nope, still won’t work. I may have to reinstall.

    HI, I’m having the exact same problem.
    At first i thought I wasn’t formating my audio properly in Audition, before I imported into AE (since I’m a total rookie) but I’ve re-done this a few time and nothing changes.
    I’m wondering if might have anything to do with my sound card, since it caused a lot of problems when I intially installed Production studio on my PC.
    If anyone had a solution PLEASE help.
    Kait

    is the sound in mp3 format? you have to have your sound file converted to .mov (quicktime) or .wav format. you can do that in priemere by saing export>audio and choosing correct settings. but when in AE i had the same problem untill i hit (0) for it to render first then hit (0) again to play back. but if i just hit play there will be no sound.

    Hi,
    I’m using .wav files. It doesn’t seem to matter whether I render and then play back (0 then 0) or just play back (.) is still get the same message:
    After Effects error: audio output problem. the specified format is not supported or cannot be translated. Use the Capabilites function to determine the supported formats.
    (10 :: 65)

    I realize its not the exact same message as above, but I thought it was pretty similar.
    I thought it might be a problem with Quicktime 7, since I’ve seen that other people were having problems with that, so I uninstalled QT and installed and earlier version but still no luck.

    The really weird part is if I export the project into Premiere the audio works, its just won’t play in AE.

    Yep, I’ve tried several formats and the same thing. Just can’t figure it out so now I am timing in Audition.
