    Hello WIll,

If you’re just doing voice and simple editing, sure why not.

I do VO training here and I also use SKYPE for a VO class where we’re miles away from each other and recording on both ends with 2 different pro tools LE systems.

You can use pro tools to record Vo to picture too (both ends) if you use a line (such as isdn) where you can separate the tc feed from the audio both ways.
Workd very well. Ive dont ISDN VO rock n roll sessions to picture files for Vo and ADR in UK and Europe and USA with 100% satis.

    Peter,

Yup. Good advice if you have the budget for ISDN. I used to have a single line here (2B+D), but it just wasn’t getting used enough.

Source Elements also has a software solution where you do audio in real time over a cable modem or DSL.

I’m not sure if they carry time code, but it works solo or as a Pro Tools Plug In. I’ve used the “light” version and it’s pretty amazing stuff. The audio is, of course, compressed for real-time, but after the session, the “mothership” version reaches across the internet and automatically pulls the uncompressed files recorded remotely back home. Sort of an audio tractor beam. Someone should get an award for that.

    Hi Ty
Isdn must be expensive over there in USA?
Its only @ £40 per month here in UK for isdn2e (2×64 kbps channels)

    Peter,

Not hugely, less than $50/mo USD, as I recall, but for my work, real-time sessions aren’t that necessary.

BTW, if anyone wants an APT DRT 128 ISDN modem, mine’s for sale.
