January 24, 2006 at 3:07 pmLP *can* have something to do with it – especially if capturing from another camera. The amount of info written on the tape is much smaller and alignment differences can cause errors when reading the tape.
As for the information stored, I agree that LP and SP store the same identical information. SP just uses more space which makes it more robust (less sensitive to head alignment issues).

– I turned off the preview in vegas capture and things pretty much cleared up
– running the tape through the rewinder ( forward and back ) seems to also improve the reliability of the captureI think it might be a camera issue… which was a result of having a bad batch of tapes from panasonic
I’ve switched to sony tapes and things are looking good.thanks for all your help
