Audio Crackles from FCP 7 through Kona Card

My Genlock is set to Freerun. I don’t have a deck, I mainly use the Kona for monitoring as I work with file-based XDcam.

Would a BB do the trick?

Hmmm… Freerun should be fine. You shouldn’t need a BB signal for just monitoring. No deck connected? Any SDI input?

No input at all. The monitor is connected component and the audio directly connected to the speakers using AES/EBU.

I’m cutting some XDcam 1080p30 stuff and since my monitor does not have an sdi input, I have to monitor through component at 1080i29,97. I read somewhere else that the crackling might be because I’m monitoring at another res.
I might try to connect my broadcast monitor through HDMI/DVI.
Is HDMI good enough for grading?

What ‘res’ are you monitoring?

1080p30 XDcam and 1080i29.97 are really the same thing, that is your 1080p XDcam can be monitored @ 1080psf29.97 (which is the 1080i setting on the Kona @ 29.97 fps).

Thanks Jeremy – I wasn’t aware of this. So I bet using an HDMI won’t make a difference.

Michael – The analog audio had the same problem. I have Roland DS-5 speakers.

But the problem isn’t only in the audio. Just like the OP, I have some thin horizontal white lines on the output video.

What else do you have in the ay of PCI cards in your mac? This sounds like either a configuration issue or mismatched settings.

I have a mix of 16 and 24bit audio in a 24bit sequence.

The LHi is in slot 2 and I have a Caldigit PCI-E card in slot 4.
