A problem I’ve encountered recently has me stumped. I’ve used Final Cut for years and never experienced this problem, now since starting a new gig it seems to happen pretty regularly at my new work station. I’m not sure what’s going on, so any help/ideas would be awesome.

    Here it is:
I’ll often copy the contents of a sequence and lay them into a new sequence to do a re-edit. Sometimes when I do this the properties of the clips change, most notably the audio. A clip may play fine, then suddenly jump as though it is linking to an entirely different clip.

Sometimes I can see in the timeline where the audio gets buggy. In the pictures provided, Pic 1 shows the regular sequence (normal) and Pic 2 the new one (problematic.) The audio has problems where the track has a green line across the clip. Rendering the clip doesn’t solve it – the green line stays in the clip, while the red line at the top in the Render ID goes away.

Sometimes audio clips sound like they are overlapping and there may be no change to the timeline at all. Nothing at all may be indicating there is anything out of the ordinary, making it difficult to troubleshoot. Normally I would think this is some kind of memory issue, or trashing preferences might help. I’ve looked into both and have yet to find a remedy.

Anyone have any insight into what might be going on here?
