  Attaching Shotgun Microphone to Canon XF100

  I just bought a Rode NTG2 shotgun mike. The shotgun holder on the Canon XF100 is too big for the NTG2 to slide into. I bought a Rode SM3, a shock mount, that is supposed to attach to the accessory shoe on top of camera. But it doesn’t fit. Is there an adapter that will make it fit the shoe, or should I send the SM3 back for an SM5? Any help greatly appreciated.
