    Hi

Has anyone use the new 9600 pro Mac and PC card with G4, I am just wondering how does the G4 perform with the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro card?

I was thinking of getting Motion earlier with one of the card, but further research on the web a couple of months ago, tells me that it is rather slow and it is better off getting the G5 to go with it. The card they recommended at that time was ATI Radeon 9800 -128 VRAM.

I am talking about general performance of only like 2 to 3 layers, simple animation with text and images not intensive work like particle generation, is the performance satisfactory for your G4?

Wanted to get G5 but my budget would not allow it till next year, was thinking of interim sloution to get the best out of my good ole G4.

    Please advise

    Thanks

“Satisfactory” is a very subjective term. All depends on things like frame size, what filters/behaviors/animations you apply to your objects, if you start using particles or the replicator, etc.

I do a fair amount of demos of Motion on my Powerbook 17″ and after working on a dual G5 with an x800 card it is painful (before that it was adequate).

It should be sufficient for simple composites and animations, but you will find yourself wanting to explore more aspects of the program and then you will feel pain.
