At what point to convert HDV to SD for color correction
Just looking for advice. I have two films I am currently editing shot on HDV. Both will be ultimately down-converted to SD for DVD release. My question is, for the sake of color-correction, at what point should I convert the footage down to SD? I have a used Panasonic CT-1030M monitor I would like to use to view my canvas on and do the color correcting with (all I can afford at this point). Should I edit in HDV in FCP, then down-convert and do the color-correcting via SD in Color 1.5? Should I edit in an SD format from the start? I’d like to be able to view the canvas on the external monitor if possible, but my ultimate priority is producing a decent image when I down-convert to SD with good color. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
