1st time here and new to video…Plese help,
I shot with the hpx 170 @ 720p 60p too the firestore fs 100….. imported into final cut pro. After editing my project im having problems exporting and keep the 1280×720 that my files show in finder….FCP says they are 960×720 ????? why did they change on import? was it something I had wrong in my FC import settings? and can I change the file size on my project back to 1280×720? So I can export the size i shot in? I’ve tried lotts of different exports from quicktime to compressor and every time i export it squeezes my files with black bars on top and bottom????? my final output will be dvd and a lrg quicktime file……. my project is an ice skating show….
Any help would be greatly appreciated?

The format you shot in actually shoots @ 960. The pixels stretch to 1280 for display. This is normal for r an anamorphic format.

does that mean im stuck with a streatched image with black bars on top and bottom? no way to export my project to view it full HD frame?

If you use the right settings there will be no black bars, but since you have not told us exactly what you did, there is very little anyone can do to help you.
Based on the dimensions, it sounds like your camera shot in the DVCPRO-HD (1080i) format. You should be using the Easy Setup for that in FCP.

hmmmm… sorry i thought i had all the details of how i shot it and what i did in FC on my first post. What other info would you need to tell me what i need to do?

What are your exact sequence settings and what is the specific, step by step process you’ve used to export the footage so far?

can i go back to my timeline and get my settings back to the original 1280×720?

Your sequence settings are completely wrong. That is the setup for DV/DVCPRO NTSC. You want DVCPRO HD 1080
Use the Easy Setup for DVCPRO HD 720p60.
Use the EASY SETUPS!

I think i wrote the wrong format earlier.
Your dimensions are 960 x 270 (which displays as 1280 x 720)
This is 720p DVCPRO-HD.

great ive figured out to set it to those settings and recut the project…..
the problem started when my friend clicked no instead of yes when FC asked if the project settings should match the sorce when we dropped it on the timeline…!!!! oh well live and learn…
