Hi all .. the company I work for are getting rid of our old pc’s this will mean we will not have the dps card anymore. My main use for it is when I render out an After effects project as a tga sequence … chop it into the short ‘sections’ (in dps) I need to play out as-live to the studio the normal scenario being: the ‘talent’ is stood in front of green screen reading a sequence of boring facts and figures … the studio puts my graphics output behind the talent and as he speaks I press the spacebar to reveal the relevant graphic on-cue in ‘real-tim’. All works pretty well but does anyone know of a cost-effective and elegant alternative to this set-up please? I am in a position to recommend some changes to the PC spec. but generally they will be pretty basic with Adobe video suite and probably a Blackmagic card. Any advice very welcome. Best Roger

Have you looked at NewTek’s Toaster software/boards? Not sure exactly what benefits you would have over playout from Premiere via Decklink or similar, but the NewTek stuff is designed for live broadcast and has a RT switcher and a bunch of other stuff. We only really use it for MPEG capture and simple edits for DVDs, etc…But have a look on their site and see if it’s any good for you.

I can have a look at some stuff on ours if you know what you want to check..

    Jim.
