I was watching KPAX last night with Kevin Spacey. It has been the first time I have watched it since I started editing. I was BLOWN AWAY on how perfect the soundtrack was for the movie. I’m not talking about a full song, but the “space” music they play during certain scenes when Prote is on the screen. I truly believe that the movie would not even be half as good without the soundtrack. It pulls you in and sets you in a certain frame of mind. The movie makes you go where it wants you to go. Does anyone else have any favorite movies where the soundtrack makes the movie?

You may want to watch Zulu. Fantastic use of sound. Great editing.

[Jay Huubs] “Does anyone else have any favorite movies where the soundtrack makes the movie?”

    How about:

THX-1138 (my favorite soundtrack of all time)
    Moulin Rouge!
    Run Lola Run

I love the ones I have to wtach more than once for technicals cuz I got into the movie itself.
Was watchin’ Napoleon Dynomite again the other night. I noted much more sweetening than I did when I watched it as a movie. The casio keyboard score, the never-ending background sound effects, even the awkward pauses become a part of it’s sound track.
Anything that sneaks something past me the first time… very cool.
