    Hello,

I’m working on a project with Arri Alexa ProRes 4444. I need to transcode the files for the editor to be able to edit on her laptop.

In production we use time code to synk sound and video, can I transcode the ProRes 4444 to ProRes (Proxy) or LT in MPEG Streamclip with out losing the timecode to sync with.

I haven’t worked on any project that uses time code before.. We are using Final Cut 7.0.

    Thank You!

You could media manage in FCP, that would retain timecode/reel info.

Otherwise, contact me directly and i’ll write something custom that saves the TC in a small database, and will apply it on the new clips.

(see my site for contact info)

    Hi,

If you have a compatible system you can use Davinci Resolve lite to make ProRes Proxy files of all you data while retaining timecode and reel information. It is very easy.
