Arri Alexa 2:1 Workflow Question
Greg Promani
April 7, 2014 at 6:50 pmHey guys, working on a shoot using Alexa’s and the DP told me he’s shooting 2:1 and did not want the footage edited in 16:9. The problem for me is that the only footage we got from the camera is 1920×1080 ProRes 4444 (AKA 16:9). Is there a workflow for getting the 2:1 aspect ratio back while retaining the 1920×1080 size?
Thanks for any help!

April 7, 2014 at 7:15 pmRight click footage, go to Modify > Interpret Footage, select conform aspect ratio and select “anamorphic (2.0)”
Place in a 1080HD timeline, right click and select “Scale to frame size” and you have your desqueezed footage in an HD size with proper letterboxes.
