Activity Forums Storage & Archiving ARK LTO

Our company is considering LTO archive solutions and we edit off an EditShare EFS – they are pitching for us to roll in an ARK license (along with a 24 slot Qualstar library) which will have various advantages – namely keeping our asset management under the same roof essentially.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience working with ARK tape pools, and backup/restore through ARK that could provide some on the ground reviews for us.

Alternatively, if anyone has both hardware and library solutions they would recommend for starting a fresh LTO library (something like pairing a Magstor library with a Yoyota/Hedge Canister workflow), I am all ears!

And before people launch into cloud solutions, rest assured that is also part of the plan for a tier of our redundancy, we just need LTO for cost efficiency as we are in the business of shooting upwards of 20TB of raw per month.

    Many thanks!

Check out Archiware P5 (https://www.archiware.com/solutions/editshare) which has a direct integration with EditShare Flow and does everything you mention above.

There’s a video I put together on that page that runs through the entire installation and use of P5 with Flow in around 20 minutes.

P5 has its own index of everything written to tape in addition to the one maintained in the MAM. We write to single LTO drives, LTO libraries (including multi-drive) and disk/cloud storage. Upcoming versions allow migration of archived data between LTO and cloud.

    Disclosure: I work for Archiware.
