I am trying to get a wide screen look with a wall of fire across the top and bottom. I want it to bleed into the video portion a little so the stencil option is out. My problem is that I can’t seem to get the area emitter mask to work. When I import my alpha channel it only has a slight effect on the emmiter. “Emit at points” is unchecked. “Use image as mask” is checked and the path to the mask image is chosen properly. I followed the directions on the “beam out” tutorial but it doesn’t seem to work the same. What am I leaving out?

For best results with area mask, make the emitter width and height the same as the mask image size. If that still doesn’t do it, make the emitter, mask image, and stage size all the same, and put the emitter in the center (r-click on the position graph and “reset”).
