Are These Rendering Speeds Normal?

Those render times you are getting should be better
for the system that you have.Especially your Architect
burning…Hard to say what your issue is. What version of Vegas
do you have?

Oh I just realized,

during my first renderings I encounters an error – system low on memory or something of the sorts – and I looked up to fix it by changing dynamic ram to 0 – it was at 800 or 900.

Does dynamic ram affect rendering speed?

I cant understand how I went from rendering a 1 minute 1280×720 HD 1 track video in about 1min 1min15seconds to it taking 2-3 minutes only hours later…

Dynamic ram dont affect rendering speeds…it is for previewing
the timeline in real-time.

I am using Sony Vegas 10 Movie Studio HD Platinum

Last night I rendered a 7 minute 1280×720 video with 1 video track, 2 audio tracks, and 2 effects (sharpen and brightness/contrast)it had about 45 splits in it. no transitions / fades / changes in opacity, etc.

It took approx 35 minutes to finish.

Today I tested 1 minute of 1280×720 HD video: 1 minute video and audio track

settings for all videos to render at “best” and rendered at “sharpest” and reduced bit rate from 6 to 3

First try – No effects – 1:25 to render

Second try – 1 effect (sharpen) 1:42 to render

Third try – 2 effects (sharpen and contrast) 1:48 to render)

Any idea why my rendering speeds would increased so much for no apparent reason?? It almost seems like its increasing more each day… and I unistalled my other programs to see if the slow down..

On my old computer (4gs of ram) rendering took FOREVER – 20 minutes for 1 minute of 480SD wmv. 45 minutes for 720hd dont even try 1080… frankly that seemed screwed up I had lots of free space and a good computer (compared to what others were using and rendering very fast)

My new computer is a vast improvement, and it should be considering the system (see original post)but it does not seem right considering the sudden slow down in rendering speeds

I keep rendering the same 1 minute 1track no effect 1280×720 file to test it. Sometimes it will do it in 1.5 minutes, sometimes it takes close to 3 minutes… Originally it took about 1 minute before it seemed to go whacko.

If I render in windows movie maker (both files being rendered are AVCHD rendering to WMV.) windows movie maker will render the exact same file in 1080HD in 30-40 seconds, and an SD version in 15-20…

Is my vegas just bad maybe?? (though on my old computer I used both a downloaded trail version AND a purchased CD – which I am using now)

Is there some settings I am missing? Can I dedicate ram just to vegas (though I have 1.72 of 1.8TB free… )
