  • Are these Render and Export Times Normal?

    Hi,
Just switched to APP and trying to figure out of this is normal. I hope it’s not!

Render: I have 55 minutes of .mts footage from a panasonic TM900 on the timeline (1920×1080 / Pixel Depth 32 / Frame 29.97 / Audio 48000/Pixel Aspect 1.0). I added a simple watermark .tif and a website address in titler that fades in and out every 10 minutes. The render time is 2 hours.

Export: I’ve exported the same 55 minute sequence (sent to AME) and it took 45 hours. (45 hours!) these were the settings i used to try to keep it to 8mb/minute or so and optimize for web/JW Player:
    • .h264 / 720×480 / 29.97 / Pixel Aspect: Square / Profile: Baseline / Level 3.1 / Bitrate VBR 2 Pass / Target: .08 / Max 6 / Use Max Render checked…

It comes out looking okay and the file size is good at about 375mb – but 45 hours!

I’m half hoping this is a RAM issue. Here’s what I’m running:

Mac OSC 10.5.8 with Premiere Pro CS5
    Processor 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Scon
    RAM: 4GB 800 HMz DDR2 FB-DIMM
    NVIDEA GeForce 8800 GT

    Will more RAM help?

Any tips or suggestions truly appreciated. Thanks!
