April 22, 2009 at 4:23 pmThe only other battery company I would trust is something from Anton Bauer. I’ll be comparing prices later today to determine if:
1. Buying the Anton Bauer QR EX3 Gold mount and two (2) Dionic 90 batteries is smarter than:
2. Buying three (3) Sony BP-U60 batteries.
The Anton Bauer Dionic 90’s are good for around 6 or so hours (I think). I’ll also ask my broadcast supplier about alternate battery recommendations as well.

April 22, 2009 at 5:09 pmBasically I believe the EX uses the “pro” 14.4V as opposed to “prosumer” 7.2V.
Anton Bauer, as Don points, out has made a system for the EX.Basically though, if a company came out with 14.4 adaptor for EX it should work with many 14.4 battery systems.
At least this is how I understand it although I haven’t delved deep enough in to this to insure all the above is correct.

April 22, 2009 at 7:13 pmSwit do battery for the EX1/3 14.4v with a D tap. They work well and cost a 3rd less than the Sony equivalent.

April 23, 2009 at 5:53 amDepending on who you talk to the Anton Bauer QR-EX3 mount and one Dionic 90 battery plus charger comes in between $1500.00 and $1700.00 CDN funds. Even though the Anton Bauer solution is probably the best I went with 3 BP-U60 batteries instead because of price.

April 24, 2009 at 4:34 amThanks everyone for your input. I have a battery belt, but I hate it. I’m mostly a run and gun shooter that has to be mobile; glidecam, remote locations, rice fields, weddings, etc. I prefer the snap on batteries purely for convenience and comfort. I just did a 10 hour shoot last weekend, so the added weight of a belt just wears me out…..I guess I’m getting older.
