Are there motion presets in PP2 for PinP
Posted by Mbelli on July 21, 2006 at 5:23 pmI seem to remember older versions of Premiere having some basic motion presets, but I can’t find any in PP2. Is there a way to import motion effects, I don’t want to go to AE for a PinP simply flying in and stuff.

July 22, 2006 at 2:42 pmI find those hard to use because they have movement keyframes but they also dictate the frame size for you, if you adjust the size then the effect looks strange with the frame being too much in or too much out.
I was hoping that there was only “motion presets”, that is I create a window say 320×240, now I need it to fly in, twirl in — whatever, I don’t want the preset to change the PinP size.
This to be honest with you is an area I don’t understand why programmers make so difficult for you. Why can’t I create a piece of text to my liking (size, color, font) and then select from a long list of in/out effects and call it a night? Or the same with a PinP.
Also, as much as I like Premiere it’s really bare in the effects department, really, they should have a lot more motion presets and stuff like page peels, windows flying in and so forth — they have some, but really could use a lot more.

July 22, 2006 at 3:33 pmI see. What you want is in After Effects. It has exactly those text effects. And motion effects.
Adobe has put editing features in Premiere Pro, and Compositing and special efects in After Effects. That is why they discount the bundle to much lower than the price of all of the products together.
I imagine that by now, at least half of the people using Premiere Pro also own After Effects.
