  • Are the Channel A and Channel B I/O on Decklink Extreme 3D completely independent?

Posted by Todd Blackwell on January 26, 2012 at 6:07 pm

On the Decklink Extreme 3D Channel A/B only used for 3D or are they independently addressable as 2 separate 2D channels. Using the SDK, can I capture 2 separate 2D inputs and output 2 separate streams without any 3D extensions? Can I do it simultaneously? In the SDK on capturing or playback, I don’t see any interface to specific directly Channel A or B.

It seems to suggest the two channels are tied together for only 3D and require the LeftEye, RightEye access and that those are then the same stream type, size, etc. Is this true?

    Thanks,
    Todd

    Hi Todd,

No, they don’t operate as 2 independent input channels, only as part of a stereo pair (left eye and right eye) or as a dual link 4:4:4 pair.
