I shot some video with my HPX500. I downloaded directly from the camera to my external hard drive (Maxtor One Touch 1TB)and everything came out great in the Final Cut NLE.

I then re-formatted my cards and shot some more video on them.

I took the same Maxtor drive, connected it to the camera via firewire, turned on the hard drive, turned on the camera and it gives me a 1394 initial error.

I went through the camera’s menu to make sure everything was setup properly (which means going into the other functions menu and setting pc mode to 1394 host)

So what am I doing wrong or not doing right?

    TIA

    Sam

Found the problem – I changed the 1394 control from off (like it showed in the manual) to ext.

Guess I don’t have to wait for Tech support to call me back tomorrow either 🙂
