    Trade shows are EXPENSIVE.

So, with them pulling out and not spending that money there, do you suppose they will charge less for their stuff?

HAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAAHA!! Sorry…I had to say it. Whoooboy.

Just to clear this up, they have announced that 2009 will be their last.

they will be there in Jan. Jobs will not be giving the Keynote speech. I think as a whole trade shows are dying a quick death. It will be interesting if Apple sits NAB out this year also.

I get a kick out of everyone going into panic over this on the rumor boards. Life will go on without a MacWorld happening.

It’s on mainstream MSNBC.com now as well. 2009 will be their last, Steve Jobs will not speak at this year’s event.

Have to figure Apple is not going to NAB either but then we’ll find out soon enough.

They won’t be at NAB. They are out of the trade show business. But the SuperMeet will still be there. And at NAB too. Things are changing.

isn’t studio 3 coming out in april? or at least supposed to? would be strange not to showcase it in any way at NAB… just doesn’t make sense…

[Hector berrebi] “isn’t studio 3 coming out in april? or at least supposed to? “

Nobody knows. Studio 3 will be released whenever Apple feels like releasing it.

As for attending, Apple wasn’t there last year either. No big surprise if they cancel out this year too.

They announced last year that they are out of the trade show business. Maybe this year they might do something off site. Don’t know. Or maybe they will announce online and do Apple Store tours. Don’t know. In any event they wont have a booth at NAB that is for certain.

last year AVID didn’t attend but had a cool sort-of-a-booth off site at the Hard Rock. it felt like surprise (and they had stuff to show…) and was quite cool. cooler than most software booths on the floor.

just a thought, apple should consider

Walter, not that i’m trying to get inside apple’s logic, but isn’t 2009 about the right time for a major update? i mean, at least according to history?

i’m never sure whether i really love or really hate super secret software policies…

Who knows. Historically Apple released a major update every year at NAB. Now it’s sort of whenever they feel like it and of course we have no road map.

Adobe has really put together a beautiful suite of products now much better integrated than the Apple suite. They don’t have anything like Color which is now a must in our workflow. But they have set a very nice bar in terms of integration. Will be interesting to see if Apple has any answer for the overall integration of the Adobe suites and any significant updates to the Studio suite.

Of course, with a miniscule beta team, whatever Apple introduces, it will most likely not work properly on 95% of the computers out there when they release it.
