Apple Studio Display, or other monitor suggestions?
I’m buying a new Mac Studio. But the Apple Studio Display is $1600!! Ouch! Is it really worth it? What are some alternate options for monitors that would be a great replacement?
Most I’ve seen don’t have built-in webcams (not that important to me). And most have subpar speaker systems. I could use external speakers but that does take up more real estate.
I’m updating from my iMac 27 Late 2013. Yeah, I know the speed of the Mac Studio will knock my socks off.
Monitor suggestions? Or bite the bullet and go with the Apple Studio Display?

I have two the 27″ 5K LG displays that are *roughly* comparable to the new ASDs – I work in 4K most of the time and I wanted to be able to what I was working on unscaled, so that was a deciding factor for me.
If they died tomorrow, I’d *very likely* order two ASDs to replace them – not because they’re the best monitors available, but close enough, and they will have solid support from Apple should anything go awry.
Your decision process will be different, of course. The main question is, do you need a 5K monitor? There are tonnes of fairly good, inexpensive 4K monitors out there if you don’t need the pixels.
If it maters to you, the LGs (or the Dell Ultrasharps I had before) will never win any awards at how they look.

I’m using 3 older 20″ Apple Cinema Displays (with proper adapters) with the mac studio. They still look great and you can pick them up relatively cheap.
