When exporting a Quicktime movie with ProRes HQ codec, how crucial is the checkbox in the Advanced Setting Tab labeled interlaced?

I am working with a interlaced ProRes footage captured interlaced ProRes on an ProRes interlaced timeline. I kept the box checked and the footage looks fine in the timeline and on export.

In order to not get into some trouble with progressive footage, if I am dealing with a progressive timeline with progressive footage would I uncheck the interlace checkbox in advanced settings in the timeline and when exporting?

I can provide more information if necessary.

    Thanks,
    Luther

Thank you for the speedy response.
It doesn’t have any effect on quality or performance of the final file?

[Luther Quackenbush] “It doesn’t have any effect on quality or performance of the final file? “

Not directly in the file, but it can cause other applications to interpret the file incorrectly and therefore cause field issues. So yes and no. It’s good practice to tag the file with the proper field order or lack there of.

I don’t think will affect the encoding quality (that is a job of FC), bu I guess that may affect the performance when playing the file.

    I appreciate the feedback.

I am going to do some tests on with the checkbox on and off.
We are finishing a prores project so I can use that as my test.
I will let you know if I notice anything.

    Thanks again,
