It just made AP headlines. The irony is that Microsoft is switching to PowerPC chips for use with the Xbox 360.

[Sean ONeil] “The irony is that Microsoft is switching to PowerPC chips for use with the Xbox 360.”

Yup, just read that in the NY Times. I find it ironic that MS & IBM are coming full circle. As for Apple & Intel, wow! I’m flabbergasted!

    Shawn,

Since your in the Central California area, do you know anyone who is heading to WWDC? It might be interesting to hear what is going to happen from someone who will be there.

    Hello Dan,

https://www.macrumors.com will have live updates. We can usually find the satellite downlink of the WWDC. Not sure if there will be a feed this year.

It’s a live Quicktime feed as normal. Just go to the Apple Site and there’s a link to it in the lower left. 10am West Cost Time.

Actually, it’s not a direct link. Go to the Apple Site > Quicktime > Quicktime Guide > Apple Events.

There’s a happy smiling image of Steve Jobs on the left side of the page. That’s the link.

[walter biscardi] “Intel has been confirmed. Interesting.”

And just a little bit scary. I still remember that one of their chips (the P3, perhaps?) didn’t do long division.

Still, if Apple retools the architecture to be more like standard PCs, that could have some really interesting possibilities… Mac OS for Wintel boxes… Cheaper high end graphics cards for Macs…
