I have a beautiful 21 inch Apple Studio Display crt monitor. It belongs to the Media 100 which I am trying to phase out of my workflow, so I wanted to use the monitor with my HP laptop for office, photoshop etc, but all I get when I hit fn F5 on the laptop is a click and then another click from the monitor but no picture.
Are Apple crt monitors incompatible with a PC? I thought a VGA signal was universal.

    Thanks for the help.

If its a older monitor, you probably need an adapter to be able to use it on a PC, I used to have one for adapting PC monitors to Apple, I guess it would go the oppisite way.

Your description of the clicking from the monitor would lead me to guess that your laptop is trying to supply a picture with resolution or refresh rates out of the range the monitor can handle.

For further info on adapting your monitor to the laptop you may find some info at this site that may help you, I would have posted it earlier but the bookmark was on another computer.
