  • App to remotely control FCPX from inside a sound booth?

Posted by Michael Hadley on January 11, 2018 at 1:57 pm

    Hey people:

Any recommendations for an iOS app to control FCPX remotely? Specifically, have a sound booth (closet) about 15 feet away from the edit station. Want to be able to start/stop VO recording from within FCPX remotely from inside the booth.

    Thanks in advance.

This app hasn’t been updated in a while – I’m not sure if it works with the latest FCPX or OS…

Here’s a page that looks at several remote controllers using iPad. Not sure which ones use Bluetooth vs. WiFi.

    – I’ve briefly played with Ctl+Console a while back, and it works as advertised.

    – Lots of people seem to have used the ProCutX as well. (I seem to recall some controversy surrounding some Pixel Film Studios plugins a while ago, so maybe do some research here.)

Most any of these would seem to do what you want.

Thanks–don’t think it works with recent OS.

I’m giving the free Splashtop a try. But open to other options, too.

Thanks–although there was no link to the page…

My experience with Pixel Film Studios products has been overall pretty bad.

(The stuff about their building some of their early products on copied IP from their competitors – then doing nothing about it when challenged, aside)

When people are running into issues with system instabilities – and I find they have PFS software installed – my first suggestion is to remove the PFS apps and see if it helps.

My opinion is that from day one – they’ve focused more on making money than creating great software.

    YMMV
