Anyone want to take a AE class with me in NYC?
Hi there. My name is Joe and I’m an editor in training. I know Final Cut Pro but really want to learn After Effects. The New York Film Academy (where I learned FCP in 2007) is finally offering a twelve week After Effects program. It starts March 9 and goes till the end of May (Mon, Tues, and Thur from 6:30 to 9pm). The school is located at Union Square in NYC. The problem is that no one has signed up other than me and there’s a good chance they will cancel the class unless FOUR other people sign up. I just really want to take this class so I can move on and hopefully find a job. I’ve taken a few classes there and really enjoy their style. They spread things out instead of bum-rushing info at you (like other classes I’ve taken). Also, in case this doesn’t work out for me, does anybody know a good After Effects course in either NJ, NY, or PA? Thanks everybody. BTW, I love this site. -JD

you could do a lot worse than watch all the video tutorials on the Cow, as well as those by Andrew Kramer at videocopilot.net.
The other good thing is you can always go back to double check things months later, and they are free! Always a bonus for students.Good books are always worth having (i hate the AE manual – don’t think i’ve ever found a useful hint or tip anywhere in it)….Trish and Chris Meyer, Mark Christiansen all have excellent books on AE, but i don’t remember the titles right now.

In my opinion, you won’t lose anything if you effort to learn by yourself…the most of best people here (and I) did like this…
Depends only of you will and effort. We have books, videos and forums…
