  • Anyone tried the export to ipod in 8.2.3?

Posted by L. Moffatt on February 24, 2006 at 2:21 am

Just wondering if anyone has tried it yet.
On 3 different systems with various timelines I get “could not complete because of parameter error”

Yea, I know there are are numerous other ways to get the program to an ipod,
but just figured that if Boris went to the trouble of including it as a convenience feature,
    that I would try it.

    Any thoughts or success?

    Thanks

Just tried an export and all went well for me. I don’t have an iPod, but the file compressed well (albeit quite slowly) and then played back in QT player OK.

    Anything unusual about your set-up?

    Well I tried 8.2.3 on a G4 dual 1GB and a G5 dual 2.7 with expansion.
Both systems are 10.4.5 and QT 7.04.
Neither would export a short timeline to IPOD, both returned a parameter error.

I tried a reinstall back to QT 7.01 and a reinstall of the M100 software codecs. – no success

Another interesting issue is that I was previously able to get previews in AE 6.5 and 7.0 using
    the M100 720 out setting.
With 8.2.3 the preview out shows M100 available but not the 720 or 640 setting.

Reinstalled 8.2.2, QT 7.04 and software codecs and everything works fine.

    So much for 8.2.3

The param error comes from QuickTime 7.0.3 and earlier, and it was fixed in 7.0.4, so you should make sure that you indeed have it installed.

There was no change to the video out component in 8.2.3 so if it’s working differently it’s probably an installation issue.

    Hi all,

I have now experienced the error and it seems to come from whether there is audio in the timeline or not. If you export video only it works.

Not much use, granted, but it’s a start!
