Until the camera is released to testers no one will know. With the BMCC and Pocket camera there was footage months before the camera’s release. IMHO, it’s a bit ominous we haven’t seen footage. BM must not be happy with what they are seeing in the lab.

Hi john, thanks for the response. Do you think is a wise choice to buy the bmcc despite the promise of global shutter, s35 sensor and 60 fps of the 4k? The thing is I’m going to NY next week and I’m diying to buy the camera. Something tells me that compressed raw and the downgrade of the DR will change a lot the quality of the camera. Think to wait six months or a year for the 4k seens an eternity.

I can’t answer that. If you need a camera right away, the BMPC isn’t available. But, it’s possible it will be released as stated in a few weeks. If you need 4k you have to wait a bit or go with another camera. I was on a waiting list for the BMCC MFT, but changed that to a BMPC. I’m thinking of going back to the BMCC as I don’t really need 4k and I have a number of MFT lenses. Compressed RAW doesn’t bother me. The RED uses compressed RAW.

I don’t need 4k. Actually what I need is 60 fps and the super 35 sensor ‘cos I have varius canon and nikon lenses. I don’t know if I can have have a mtf to canon adapter, since I prefer the mtf mount to have the choice of pl lenses.

The BMPC-4K does not record 60 fps.

Its top recording frame rate is 30p.

There is no such thing as a MFT-to-EF lens mount adapter. In other words, a MFT lens can’t be used on a EF lens mount.

John I red in tech specs the following:

    Frame Rates

    3840 x 2160p23.98,
    3840 x 2160p24,
    3840 x 2160p25,
    3840 x 2160p29.97,
    3840 x 2160p30,
    1920 x 1080p23.98,
    1920 x 1080p24,
    1920 x 1080p25,
    1920 x 1080p29.97,
    1920 x 1080p30,
    1920 x 1080i50,
    1920 x 1080i59.94.

I thought the 4K didn’t record at 60 fps but some friend show me this chart and Abel cine shows the same. Did you have a different info at he NY event?

And in other hands maybe I’m confusing my undestanding about the adapter, since I’m not a native english speaker, I ment something different. I would like to use my EF glases (nikon and canon) with the BMCC MTF mount. Is there an adapter for this? maybe is EF to MTF mount is the way to write it down?

I haven’t read of the camera doing 60fps. As for adaptors, I’ve used a Nikon to MFT adaptor from Novoflex. Here’s one for Canon to MFT. There are other adaptors out there including one from Redrock Micro that powers the lens. Remember the BMCC’s MFT mount is passive.

    59.94i. or. 60i. Is NOT 60 FPS
    That’s 60 fields or 30 frames

A BMPC-4K camera can output a live interlaced 1080 HD-SDI signal. For example, for use with an external video switcher or other gear.

The BMPC-4K will not record interlaced video internally to a SSD.

Again: The BMPC-4K will not record 60 (or 50) fps. Its top recording frame rate will be 30p.

It’s crucial to understand that 59.94 is not an overcranked frame rate. This is an interlaced format that as mentioned above refers to roughly 60 fields which plays back at a 30 fps speed though they are not 30 progressive frames.

Recording 60p would mean that it is recording 60p to be played over a 24p time base. the BMPC 4K does not do this nor is it even capable via firmware. Interlaced data rates are also far smaller so don’t expect that if it can handle 59.94 interlaced that it can handle 60 progressive.
