Anyone have issues after ProKit update?
Hello COW-ers:
After updating the ProKit via Software Update last night, this morning my 3 TB Hitachi drive decided not to mount. I could see the drive in Drive Utility, but couldn’t mount or repair it. Using Data Rescue, I began to copy the files onto another drive, and after awhile, the 3 TB magically decided to mount on the desktop.
Thinking that the drive was bad, or maybe there was an issue with the 3TB size, I copied everything to 2 other trusted drives. When I rebooted with the 3 TB gone, the same thing happened with the one of the drives I just copied files to. Which makes me wonder: is the 3 TB okay, is there a SATA bus issue (I tried 2 different internal slots and they both seem to perform fine), or is their some software conflict with the new ProKit update?
I repaired permissions, ran Disk Genius on all the disks, everything checks out. And I had no problems whatsoever for the past month editing using these drives – and the 3 TB drive.
So, any advice would be much appreciated, before I abandon the Hitachi drives altogether. Or the ProKit update. : > )

Cutting mixed format HD without issue.

I have noticed that Compressor started “hanging” immediately after I installed the ProKit update. Anything I do in Compressor takes about 10 seconds for the screen to refresh. I get the spinning beach ball. For instance, if I add a file it spins. If I add a new setting it spins. I use Compressor every day and it has never done this before.

No issue with compressor here.

Fix permissions on your system drive using Disk Utility.

I had major issues a few weeks back after the prokit update.
FCP kept freezing, crashing, and generally behaving weird. Tried allsorts but ended up reinstalling a clean system drive and only installing software up to os10.6.5 and not updating the prokit!

ProKit 7.0 just came out. Perhaps you are referring to an earlier version.

It completely disabled my Blackmagic HD Extreme card and drivers.
Back to ProKit v 5.1 for me.

“Don’t freak out Harry, it’s very common that you would have to uninstall and reinstall drivers for I/O cards and devices after an update.
