    Hi all,

I am having A/V sync problem.
I’m right now testing the Aja Kona2 system and wondering if anybody having the same problem or it’s just only me.

    here are my testing systems
I am testing wit two Mac G5 2.7GHz (4.5GB RAM),
both have Kona 2 and K-box installed.
I use one LaCie Bigger Disk Extreme (FireWire800, 1TB) for the storage

If I use tiger OS, I get A/V sync problem only when I capture DVCPro HD 1080i60, While on panther
I do not have such problem. I use the same source tape and the same HDCAM VTR(sony M-2000)
and also the same External FW drive (Lacie’s Bigger Disk Extreme FW800 1TB). to be precise,
I actully use the same BNC cable and RS-422 serial cable and change those cable back and forth.
Audio is ahead about 3.5 frames to video.

If I choose other codec like DVCPro50, and uncompress, there is no problem even on Tiger system.
So there seems only a few differences between the 2 systems, but I can’t pinpoint what the cause is.
The problem only appears when DV100 codec is chosen, if somebody having a similar problem,
or if you are not having a/v sync problem at all, if you know fix.
    please let me know.

here are the list of difference between the 2 systems
    G5 #1
    OS 10.4.2
    FCP 5.0.2
    QuickTime 7.0.1
    Kona2 driver v1.1.2

    G5 #2
    OS 10.3.9
    FCP 4.5
    QuickTime 6.5.2
    Kona2 driver 1.1.1

    TIA

I am experiencing a similar problem using the DVCPROHD codec. I am using a dual G5 running Tiger. My footage was out of sync by four frames. I talked with AJA support and they said that it is a known problem with this codec and they are working towards fixing it. In the meantime I was given a beta version of their newset driver (1.1.3) I installed it and now the footage only goes out of sync on very long captures, like 20 minutes or so. A shorter capture appears to be in sync. When I capture using uncompressed the sync is fine. So I dont really have a solution for you but you’re not alone either.

    Thank you GlobeRider,
I didn’t think it was Aja’s driver issue, but I thought it might be rather QuickTime version or some other differences introduce the problem. but anyway, sounds reassuring the newer driver makes better results. Thank you for letting me know I’m not alone having this problem. I’ve got energy to keep testing.
