  • Any word on AE for Windows XP 64 bit?

From what I’ve been reading, XP 64 should really accelerate AE. Has anyone heard any buzz about Adobe releasing a verion of AE for the new OS?

AE will run on XP 64 as is but there are virtally no performance gains. It desperatly needs to be compiled in 64 bit mode.

Windows 64 does nothing to improve your AE6.5 experience.

I just bought a new dual-proc/dual-core (4-core) machine from “BOXX” that has the W64 OS installed, and it’s ridiculously fast. My AE work flow has increased in speed dramatically, but more as a result of the processor horsepower than the OS. The main advantage (at the moment) W64 has is its ability to address 8 gigs of ram. But unfortunately AE still only sees 4 gig on my machine.

Also, the driver situation is a mess right now for W64, I’m searching for and installing new drivers on almost a daily basis.

I’d wait for an incremental AE upgrade from Adobe and/or for W64 to mature a bit before installing it.

    Just my 2c.

That’s not what I was asking. I’m aware that XP 64 doesn’t do much for AE. That’s in my post.

I’m wondering if there’s any word when there’ll be a 64 bit version of AE for Windows XP 64. That’s when the party starts.

Same as for any as-yet-unreleased Adobe product: Adobe doesn’t give release dates (or hints) until the product is ready to ship. Beta testers are under NDA, so leaks are suspect.

We’ll just have to wait and see.
