  • Any way to re-combine an AC3 and an mpeg2

I have an mpeg2 file and the related AC3 file that goes with it. Is there a way that I can get these into Vegas so I can edit the video and sound? I can import the mpeg2, but the AC3 doesn’t want to go onto the timeline. These were created in DVDA.

    Thanks
    Dave P.

Vegas doesn’t import AC-3 files so, if you don’t have the source project and files, your only option is to Prepare a DVD (burning isn’t necessary here).
Once the file is prepared, use the File – Import DVD Camcorder disc option, browse to the folder containing the prepared material and import the project back into Vegas.
Be patient while this is happening as it may take a while, depending on the program length.

You can just use tsMuxeR to mux the streams back into one file.

That will mux your MPEG2 and AC3 streams back into one .TS file which Vegas can edit.

Thanks for the info on the software John. Have you had good luck with tsMuxeR? No problems with syc of audio & video?

    Thanks

So far so good. I haven’t used it extensively to match audio and video. I mostly use it to concatenate HD files together without any loss from rendering. For that you use the Join button.
