I just started using the multicamera option in Vegas 9 to switch between 3 cameras. It works out very nicely. However, as I was going through the footage I noticed some things that could use tweaking. I’d also like to time shift some footage. Is there a way to go back to the standard editing layout once something has been cut using multicamera or am I stuck with this one multitrack?

No. The process is unfortunately one way only. This is why people still use 3rd party multi-cam tools like VASST infinitiCAM, Ultimate S Pro, and Excalibur. They all keep your original tracks intact when building the new master track allowing you to go back and forth.
