  • Any way to get lights happening from nested comp in main comp?

    Hi guys,
Quick question which I’m fearing I know the answer to already.
I have a traffic light graphic made up in 3D, with 3 lights in a box making the effect.
This is a nested comp in a main comp with collapse transformations on, to get the 3D-ness come through to the main comp. Obviously I lose the lights that make the traffic light up. Do I have to have all the layers from the nested traffic light comp in the main comp to get this to work? Anyone know of a plugin or something to avoid that? Would rather not have all the layers from the nested comp in the main comp if possible.
    Thanks in advance!
    Will

The lights from the precomp should work in the main comp. You won’t be able to move them around because they don’t really exist as objects in the main comp, the image of them is just being carried forward.

Just tried this with precomp that has some blinking lights shining on a stage plane. The main comp shows the lights shining and blinking on the stage.

Not sure what you’re doing wrong but this works as promised in AE.
