  • Any way to boost audio and reduce background noise?

Posted by Olly Lawer on November 17, 2011 at 3:34 pm

    Hi,

Editing a clip from a club. The music is quite loud in the background and the subjects quiet. Whilst I can boost the levels, this obviously increases the background noise.

Any tips on this situation appreciated.

    Kind regards,

Not much i dont think. You can filter / eq out say the bassier tones but ultimately this is a recording error.
In film / tv youd record in the scene but without the actuality. Then mix that in after to taste.

    Thanks. I thought as much.

Its by no means unusable, but it would be good to clean it up. It wasn’t an option to drop the background sound and add in later.

    Kind regards,
