    Seems a bit ridiuculous that there’s no in-built way to accomplish this. Does anyone know of a hack/plugin/script that will do it?

    Not that I’m aware of.

    You could sort of build your own by moving the anchor points for individual layers, then linking their scales together with a slider control and expressions.

    I’m bumping this thread. Is this something that someone has worked around?
    I know I can do it pretty easily, but its fiddly and seems like someone might have fixed it by now? 🙂

    I’d been looking for an easy way to do 9 slice scaling in AE myself, so I wrote an FxFactory plug-in that will do it. It has just been released, and is on sale for a limited time. FxFactory plug-ins are mac only, but it will work in AE, Premiere, Final Cut and Motion on a mac. Check it out:
