  Any thought on Epson 4990 film scanner?

  I am looking at purchasing a 35mm film scanner to load in some old 35mm slides (mounted) and some 35mm negatives. I was looking at the Pacific Image 3610 – a dedicated film scanner – but the Epson 4990, based of some customer reviews might be a better option. These scans are going to video (HD) but not to print.

  The other option would be to ship the film off to have a professional scan them, but the costs is right at $200… and both scanners are around $300.

  Thoughts? Other better suggestions on gear?
