Any information is helpful
Posted by scottwitt Scott witt on September 8, 2006 at 3:49 pmI will be taking my first stab at a new type of project.
It consists of a (CGI) fly though of Lake Champlain in Vermont.
It is done in a program that only exports .tiffs.
It is estimated there will be 40,000 .tiffs all numbered sequentially.Has anyone done anything like this before?
Sorry so vauge its all the info I have right now.
Have a G5 with all the bells and whistles.

September 8, 2006 at 3:53 pmYou can import folders of TIFFS directly into FCP, but change the Still Frame Duration to one frame first. Instead, you might want to import those folders of TIFFS into QT Pro first and export workable movies for import into FCP.

September 8, 2006 at 4:37 pmSorry, no. But I *did* kayak in Lake Champlain this morning, honest!
I also have a friend with a plane, maybe I could do a *real* fly through for you. 🙂

September 8, 2006 at 7:25 pmI will ask the dept. if they are interested in a flyover.
Sorry I meant a underwater fly through. Middlebury recently completed a
10 year mapping of the whole bottom of lake champlain. Where the old measuremenats from
a 100 years ago were measured using a lead weight and rope and 10,000 measurements.
They used sound waves and had 1.4 million measurements for the new map. I havent seen it yet.So, the “fly through” is under water.
I fgured as much about the importing the 1 frame .tiff. Thanks for the reminder.
In case you want to know more.

the 735,00 measurements is everything over 12 feet the rest of the 1.4 million are 12 feet and in

September 8, 2006 at 8:54 pmVery cool project! I do work for Middlebury College, traveling around the world for their Study Abroad Program.
I was kayaking at the Maritime Museum today (well, Basin Harbor, close enough!). Although I live up in the mountains
now, my son lives close to the museum, as does my sweetie.
