If I am going to be exporting my project to MPEG2 for a DVD is there any advantage to exporting it from AE with no compression and then using that file to create the MPEG2 rather than exporting it as Microsoft DV which I have been doing to save disk space?

    thx!

Out of AE, either render to Quicktime Animation codec or Photo-JPEG. PJPEG at 89-94% quality gives smaller file sizes with negligible loss in quality.

DV is very lossy. Not good as an intermediate codec.

If you neeeed an AVI, then I suppose you need to use no compression. I’m not aware of any useful intermediate codecs for AVI.

You also could try huffyuv…pretty small file size and lossless

but i recomend working in no compression

especially if the client might want to output to broadcast
