I’ve always been told either not to install antivirus software like Norton on our Avids, or at least disable it. This has just been my rule of thumb since we got out first newscutter and xpress meridian about 7 yrs ago. Is this still the case with the newer systems like Xpress Pro and MC Adrenaline (Win XP)?

A couple of our systems are networked and our network admin is wanting to install NAV on the media composers.

    Thanks,
    Turk

Yes, it is still the rule of thumb today.

And Norton sucks…there’s plenty of other AV programs out there that don’t take over your system the way Norton does.

Thanks, I nixed the Norton install on the Avids.

Since you mention it- What AV app would you reccomend? I have Norton at home and it does suck up a lot of system resources. I’ve been thinking about getting something else, but there are a lot of choices out there and I’m not sure what’s decent and what’s crap…I’ve always used Norton. Thanks again.
